ERASMUS+ KA 107 – ICM (International Credit Mobility)

UNIVERSITA’ CATTOLICA DEL SACRO CUORE AND THOMAS JEFFERSON UNIVERSITY

 

 

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore participates in the innovative Erasmus+ KA107 ICM: International Credit Mobility with the aim of promoting international mobility of European students, teachers and technical-administrative staff to and from partner countries worldwide.
The aim of these programs is to exchange students (2nd and 3rd cycles) and staff between Thomas Jefferson University and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

The project fosters staff and student mobility allowing students to participate in the care of patients with varying demographics, use technological advances not available at their home institution, have improved understanding of advanced methodological techniques, advance their educational experience and gain new expertise.

The Erasmus+ ICM Call for mobilities during 2022-2023 is now open.

Mobility type and available places

Under this call for applications, the following places are available for prospective candidates from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. 
All the mobility activities have to be completed by July 31, 2023.
Due to the Covid related restrictions, the learning activities may be carried out through mobility web based teaching or in a blended manner.

FOR TRAINING 

  • medical students (2 months) – Level: undergraduate students
  • residents PGY 3-5 (6 months) Level: postgraduate students (PhD – Doctorate) - residents PGY 3-5

 

Selection Criteria and applications assessment

The selection of the applications will be made by the Joint Faculty Council.
The Joint Faculty Council is composed by:

  • Prof. Raffaele Landolfi (Project Coordination, Responsible for International Partnerships in Education and Research)
  • Prof. Alessandro Olivi (NN Director Area at Cattolica)
  • Prof. Robert Rosenwasser (NN Director area at Cattolica)
  • Dr. Pier Paolo Mattogno (Project assistant at Cattolica) 
  • Prof. Kevin Judy (Project assistant at TJU)

This project will pay particular attention for disadvantaged subjects. During selection, the Joint Faculty Council will take into specific consideration persons with disabilities as well as the socio-economics background of applicants.

 

Student selection criteria:

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Academic excellence - preference will go to promising students in their final years or who wish to pursue research in Neuroncology or Neurosurgery; reference letters, awards, language skills, motivation letter, research focus and experience. For pre-med students, IFOM scores will be considered as an added value. 
  • Reference letters of the Department chairperson
  • Language proficiency: English B2 level

Med students and Residents will be evaluated by the department Chairperson.

 

Grant amount

The amount of the mobility grant, in accordance with Erasmus+ guidelines, is made up of a contribution for travel (1 round-trip ticket per beneficiary) and monthly scholarships for subsistence costs as follows:

In case of virtual mobility from Italy, no funds will be granted.

Applications must be done through the Application form ICM NEUROSCIENCES available for download on the ERASMUS+ KA 107 – ICM (International Credit Mobility) webpage. The 
The Application deadline is September 16 2022.

Applicants are required to send the application form along with the following documents by email to ucsc.international-rm@unicatt.it with subject “ICM 2020_NAME OF THE STUDENT

  • English language certificate, if any
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation Letter

Student Safety Package 

All students participating in an official Cattolica International program must accept the “Student Safety Package” provisions by downloading the “Safety Check Students” app for the geolocation and instant messaging features to be used exclusively in the event of an emergency. The “Student Safety Package” also includes health insurance coverage for the entire duration of the program.
Please note that a Medical Malpractice/Professional Liability Insurance is not included in the Student Safety Package, therefore selected students will have to bear the additional cost.
