Your Clinical Electives

The programme provides an opportunity to carry out an international curricular internship at healthcare companies and/or EU and non-EU hospitals independently identified by the student concerned.

The programme is aimed at current students and recent graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery wishing to undertake clinical practice or research activity abroad. (Graduates must have graduated no more than 12 months prior to the commencement of the internship).

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore - Cattolica International provides economic and administrative support for these initiatives.

You can choose autonomously your destination in Europe or outside Europe, according to your interests.
Applicants are responsible for checking the exact requirements of the identified foreign institutions,in particular with regard to:

  • the application deadline
  • period of internship
  • academic background required
  • required language skills

It is the student's responsibility to timely verify, with their host institution and the consular authorities of the destination country, the situation regarding any visas required to carry out the chosen internship within the country itself.

  • For observership, clinical rotations, and research opportunities in the United States, Cattolica International partners with Amopportunities, Interested students can apply here.
     
  • For internship and/or research opportunities in France – Paris, Cattolica International partners with AMIP (Associazione medici italiani a Parigi). Interested students can directly contact AMIP representatives.

There are no fixed dates for the programme: students can independently propose their period of mobility, which will be subject to the regulations for compulsory attendance detailed in the faculty guidebook.

You must complete your application at least one month prior to the scheduled start date.

Study grants are available to the value of between €400 and €500 per month depending on destination and income. They are available for internships of a minimum of one month to a maximum of three months, paid as a refund for travel expenses and other expenses incurred while abroad for the programme.

To be eligible for a grant, the final month of the programme must be of at least 21 days. If the period is of just one month, it must be of at least 21 days.  

STEP 1
Submit your application along with your CV and Cover Letter to the identified destination

STEP 2  
Upon receiving the confirmation of acceptance from the foreign institution, proceed to enroll online by accessing the 'Services and Opportunities' section from your personal ICATT page. Read the guide.

STEP 3
Upload to the appropriate section of your application your Confirmation Letter and the Trilateral Agreement signed by the international host institution.

STEP 4
Pay the non-refundable € 35 application fee.

You can apply to have the programme recognised as elective Clinical/Research courses. You need to send to ucsc.international-rm@unicatt.it the following document, together with certification issued by the international host institution.

The minimum period for credits to be recognised is 1 month - 100 hours of curricular internship.

All students who take part in an international programme promoted by Cattolica International must sign up to a "Student Safety Package", which includes insurance cover and an emergency app.
