Virtual programmes

Collaborative Online International Learning

COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) allows for participation in virtual exchange with students from around the world, letting you undertake a meaningful intercultural experience within your study path, and giving the opportunity to ask for recognition of credits.

COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) programmes are vitual exchange programmes between Cattolica students and students from universities abroad.

COIL allows students to internationalise their curriculum by studying in an international class and to undertake a significant intercultural experience within their study path.

To qualify as a COIL programme, activities must meet the following conditions:

  • COLLABORATIVE: professors co-teach a programme on an equal footing and students are enabled to cooperate effectively and efficiently to arrive at the expected outcomes of the activity
  • ONLINE: interaction between students and professors takes place mainly or exclusively online
  • INTERNATIONAL: the activity takes place between students and professors from two or more different countries, which leads to the development of international and intercultural skills
  • LEARNING: COIL modules are learning activities and should be an integral part of the curriculum rather than an optional irrelevant extra.

In summary, only if an activity meets all these characteristics should it be recognised as a real virtual exchange.

  • INCREASE YOUR SKILLS!
Intercultural skills are among those skills which are highly demanded in the world of work, and improving your language skills isn’t a bad thing!

  • THEY ARE INCLUSIVE!
Many students cannot take part in a mobility programme abroad for various reasons (whether financial, family, health etc.). This programme gives everyone the opportunity to undertake an international experience  without the need to go abroad.

  • THEY PREPARE YOU FOR THE FUTURE!
Does the idea of an experience abroad frighten you? New country, new culture, new language. This programme helps you familiarise yourself with all of these aspects and get to know a different reality before you go in person.

  • THEY ARE RECOGNISED BY YOUR FACULTY!
COIL programmes are approved by your faculty and recognised via credits.

COIL programmes are aimed at students of certain faculties and degree programmes and are held in English.

No average grade is required and you do not have to prove language level, although you are expected to have a good knowledge of English.

You can sign up from October but take care: each programme has a different deadline for registration.

In the first or second semester for a period of between 4 and 10 weeks.

  1. Choose the COIL programme that suits you
  2. Access the International Mobility Portal, select Virtuali Studio programs, and complete the program registration. All virtual programs have a program fee of €80.
  3. Request credit recognition (CFU): you will find the available instructions in the program dashboard after acceptance.
