Dear newly enrolled students, welcome!

Milan

The Rector welcomes you to the Università Cattolica: the MESSAGE TO NEW STUDENTS

Your first appointments

The teaching activities of Università Cattolica (lectures, exams, final examinations) scheduled for the academic year 2023/24 will take place on campus.
The School of Economics provided that the lectures will not be recorded, except for degree courses for working students (evening and blended).

The VPI (Foundation Knowledge Assessment Test) is a compulsory test for all students enrolled in the first year of undergraduate and integrated degree programmes. It takes place online and is aimed at ascertaining that you have the basic knowledge necessary to successfully attend the degree programme you have chosen.

If you took the admission test (TIEC), you are not required to take the VPI, as it is incorporated into the test.

The VPI is deemed passed with a score of 7 or higher in the area of mathematics.

If your score is below 7 in the area of mathematics, you will automatically be assigned additional courses known as OFAs (Additional Training Obligations) which you must complete by the end of the first year of your degree programme in order to avoid repeating the year if you want to continue your studies.

The academic bodies determine the content of the VPI and define the OFAs for each degree programme.

The OFA in the Faculty of Economics consists of a 12-hour pre-course in Mathematics: you need to attend at least 70% of classes to be admitted to the final test. Successful completion of this test will result in the completion of the OFA and the possibility of continuing your university studies. If you fail the final test (you have at least three attempts), you can contact the group tutor who will offer you methodological advice and support.

If you are a student with a foreign qualification, you will have to check that you meet the necessary requirements (indicated at this LINK) and, based on these, you will have to take either the TIEC admission test or the VPI, which is an online test, lasting 40 minutes and consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions in the area of Mathematics. If you do not pass the VPI with at least 50%+1 of the correct answers, or if you are absent, you will have to attend the OFA course as indicated above.

You will be able to view any OFAs you have been allocated in the 'Courses' section of your iCatt page and, below, the OFA calendars organised for the Faculty's courses.
