During studies

Self-certifications and certificates

In dealings with public administration bodies and public service providers, certificates and affidavits are always replaced by self-certifications, in accordance with Law 183/2011*.

Self-certifications are issued only in Italian on white paper and are not subject to the payment of any stamp duty.

You can print out pre-filled self-certifications, based on the available templates, from your iCatt personal page.

In order to be valid, self-certifications must always be signed in original by the person concerned and submitted together with a copy of a valid identity document. The person concerned (declarant) is personally responsible for the content of his declarations, which may be subject to control by the receiving administration.

*Read the note on the regulation of certifications Law no. 183/2011:
In compliance with this rule, even certificates issued by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore regarding states, personal qualities and facts are valid and usable only in relations between private individuals, whereas in relations with public administration bodies and public service managers, certificates and affidavits are always replaced by declarations pursuant to articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree no. 445/2000 (Consolidated text of legislative and regulatory provisions on administrative documentation).
It should be noted, therefore, that the certificates issued by this University bear, on penalty of nullity, the legal wording "This certificate cannot be produced to public administration bodies or private managers of public services" and that Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore can no longer accept certificates bearing the same wording at the bottom, but only self-certifications made in accordance with the above-mentioned Presidential Decree no. 445/2000.
An exception to these provisions is for certificates issued for the purposes of proceedings under immigration law, for which, until 31 December 2012, the phrase "Certificate issued for the purposes of disciplinary proceedings under immigration law" is transcribed.

The Diploma Supplement is a supplementary document to the degree qualification available only to graduates ‒ in both Italian and English ‒ and contains, according to models conforming to those adopted by European countries, information relating to the specific study curriculum followed by the student: it certifies the training activities undertaken, the type, the scientific-disciplinary sectors of reference, the grade awarded and the date of completion.

The Diploma Supplement is awarded to graduates with a degree obtained from the 2005/2006 academic year onwards, with the exclusion of “old regulation” degree programmes.

Milan, Brescia and Piacenza-Cremona campuses

You can print out your Diploma Supplement from your iCatt personal page in the "Online Secretariat" section. If the Diploma Supplement with handwritten signatures is required, it can be obtained from the Student Services Centre at the relevant location.

The issuing of the final certificate, as provided for in the Ministerial Decree 616/2017, is the responsibility of the last academic institution that has provided the educational activities required to obtain the 24 ECTS.

The certificate must be requested through your iCatt personal page, section Segreteria online > RICHIESTA CERTIFICATI ONLINE.
The final certificate can be requested both by graduates who have completed their entire academic studies at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and by those who have obtained the missing credits to complete the 24 ECTS at our University (single courses, second degree, etc.).

In order to issue the final certificate, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore may analyse applications for the evaluation of university credits previously obtained at other universities only if

    the last useful exam in order of time was passed at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore;
the applicant has correctly fulfilled his obligation to provide a certificate of validity for the purposes of obtaining the 24 ECTS issued by the university at which the corresponding examinations were passed.

The certificates must be submitted by uploading them in the same procedure as the application for the single final certificate.

The certificate is issued free of charge, in electronic format and with a digital signature.
A €16 digital stamp affixed to the certificate must be paid.

To pay the stamp duty, you must download and pay the MAV slip and wait for the payment to be registered in the University's systems through automated banking (usually 4-5 days of open banking).
Once the stamp duty has been paid, the certificate will be directly downloadable by the applicant from the MY CERTIFICATES area.
