Call for applications opens on February 12th and closes on March 19th, 2026

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, through the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, gives participants of the Master of Science in Food Processing: Innovation and Tradition the opportunity to undertake the second year of their course at Université ISARA Lyon. Selected students, at the conclusion of their study path, will receive a double qualification of:

  • Master of Science in Food Processing: Innovation and Tradition at Università Cattolica
  • Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems at ISARA Lyon

The programme covers two years of study, with the first year undertaken at Università Cattolica and the second year at Université ISARA Lyon. Departures are scheduled in September 2026 of the academic year 2026/2027, and the program will end with the graduation at Università Cattolica.

To obtain the Master’s Degree from both institutions, students must complete the program of exams set out in the Agreement.

To apply, you need to register and pay a €35.00 application fee (non-refundable).

There are 5 places available for the academic year 2026/2027.

Students who apply for the Double Degree Programme are required to submit the Study Plan of the first year as shown in the Faculty Guide on page 90. In particular, it will be necessary to complete, during the first year of the Master’s Degree, the following teaching: IMP501 Introduction to Sustainability of the Food System (5 CFU).

Students intending to apply for the Double Degree programme must have a minimum English language proficiency of B2 level, obtained through an international certification not earlier than May 1st, 2024. Below is the list of accepted certifications (it can also be checked on the website):

  • Paper-based TOEFL: minimum total score of 550
  • Internet-based TOEFL: minimum of 80
  • IELTS: minimum overall band score of 6.5
  • Cambridge English: minimum total score of 176
     

Applications will be assessed, and a ranking will be compiled based on the Faculty score calculation for Exchange programmes (you can see the applied formulas here). The ranking will take into consideration:

  • weighted average mark;
  • number of ECTS acquired;
  • language proficiency.

In the event of a tie in scores, additional qualifications will be assessed according to the following priority order:

  1. Bachelor's Degree grade (if available for both candidates);
  2. High School Diploma grade;
  3. date of birth (the oldest candidate wins).

2nd year, Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems – to be completed at ISARA

Students have to pass all the exams of the first year of Food Processing: Innovation and Tradition (including Theology) by the end of July 2026.

Students participating in the programme write their Final Thesis with an ISARA supervisor.

Anyway, students will have to follow the Cattolica procedures to register for a Cattolica official Graduation Day (i.e. in terms of steps, deadlines and fees).
 

Double Degree students will have to enroll directly to the Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems. Consequently, students will have to pay tuition at both universities.

The following tuition fee can be subject to change as it refers to the current academic year:

  • Cattolica application fee: €35
  • ISARA application fee: €75
  • ISARA tuition fee: €6.400

Students selected for the program will be responsible for the costs of their stay abroad (travel, accommodation, food and costs of materials). Students selected for the program must also be officially enrolled at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore while they are abroad (keeping the deadlines for university fees, study plans, requests for graduation, etc.).

Cattolica International offers 3 scholarships of €1.500 to be awarded to selected students. Scholarships will be assigned following the ranking compiled for selection in the programme.
 

Selected students will benefit from the health insurance provided by AXA in collaboration with Cattolica. In addition, the “Student Safety Package” will be activated, and the students will be able to download the Safety Check Students app for geolocation and instant communications in case of emergency. More information about the activation procedure will be provided to the selected students.

AXA insurance policy activation is compulsory for all Cattolica students doing an international experience.
