Procedures and final examination

Economics

Undergraduate Programmes

Students intending to graduate must:

  1. choose a topic, checking the requirements
  2. pay the expected contribution
  3. submit the application for admission to the final examination, verifying the curricular/temporal requirements
  4. deliver the final paper in the prescribed manner

The topic of the final examination may be based on subjects present in the study plan or, alternatively, on other subjects provided that they are part of the educational offerings of the course of study in which the student is enrolled. The topic chosen by the student must always be agreed and approved by the respective professor of reference who is responsible for evaluating the consistency of the topic with the specific educational objectives of the same course of study.

Once the professor's approval has been obtained, the title must be entered on the iCatt personal page (Segreteria online - final examination) in accordance with the deadlines that can be found in the 'degree programmes graduation sessions' section of this page.

The requirements for submitting the subject of the final examination are as follows:

  • Daytime degree programmes: having obtained at least 140 ECTS credits (foreign language examinations and 'Theology' courses are not included in the count)
  • Evening degree programmes: having obtained at least 120 ECTS credits (foreign language examinations and 'Theology' courses are not included in the count)

Please refer to the document 'Directions for Final Examination' for further details on the final examination.

The final paper must consist of approximately 30/40 pages using the template (editable version) below. For submission purposes, the file must be in PDF format.

The application for admission to the final examination (application for graduation) must be submitted via the dedicated function on the iCatt personal page (Online registrar > Final examination > Application for graduation), meeting the deadlines and requirements:

  • submission deadline: at least 45 days before the session.
  • curricular requirements: no more than 3 exams in debt ("Theology" courses are not included in the count)

The dedicated function (Online registrar > Final examination > application for graduation) involves the following steps:

  1. completion and forwarding of the application to the professor for approval;
  2. approval or rejection by the professor;
  3. payment of the graduation fee by Pago PA;
  4. submission of the degree application.

Any changes to the title of the final dissertation, approved by the professor, must be made at the time the application is completed. The title contained must therefore be definitive, as no further changes can be accepted.

The .pdf file of the paper must be uploaded via the iCatt personal page (Online secretariat - Final paper - Submit final paper).

The deadline for uploading the paper is not to be missed.

Follow the directions for undergraduates at the link Delivery of the final examination - Directions for undergraduates

Milan Campus

The paper must be uploaded to the iCatt personal page no later than 15 days before the start date of the proclamation sessions.

Rome Campus

The paper must be uploaded to the iCatt personal page no later than 12 days before the start date of the proclamation sessions. Undergraduates in the Faculty of Economics at the Rome campus must submit the Declaration of regularity of fulfilment (Library, EDUCatt) to the Student Services Centre.

In the event that the professor appointed to chair the commission is unable to do it, as communicated close to the date of the exam, a substitute will be appointed to open the exam call on the scheduled date, avoiding postponement of the call.

In order to reduce the critical situations linked to the excessive proximity or overlap of the date of the end of the exam session (last call) with the date of the start of the graduation session, it will be possible for undergraduates to close their careers (understood as the recording of all exams) within 7 calendar days of the start of the graduation session, i.e. the time required to carry out the checks on the student's career. To this end, the examination calendar will be scheduled so that undergraduate students can take advantage of the profit exam calls as follows

Students registered in the summer session (June-July): the first 2 out of 3 calls (or the first call out of 2, where applicable).

Students registered in the autumn session (September-October): first call in 2.

Students registered in the special session (December-April): the first 2 out of 3 calls (or the first call out of 2, where applicable).

The last call of each session may also be used if the examination is registered within 7 calendar days before the start of the graduation session.

Rome Campus

The deadline on which the last exam can be taken is communicated to the graduating student at the same time in the message containing the dates of the degree appointments.

Undergraduate students who fail to graduate in the call for which they have applied for admission to the final examination must notify both the professor/supervisor and the Student Services Centre of the relevant seat.
Notification to the Student Services Centre should be made by writing via the iCatt Information Request form under Lessons, Examinations and Final Examination - Final Examination.

For a subsequent graduation session, a new application for admission to the final examination must be submitted with a €16 revenue stamp and a receipt of payment of the Undergraduate Contribution.

Graduating students will receive the convocation exclusively via their iCatt personal page approximately 10 days before the scheduled graduation date (Online Secretariat - Final Examination section).

For students enrolled since the a.y. 2009/10 onwards:

The following criteria are applied for the calculation of the final degree mark:

BASIC COUNTING

All grades of the profit examinations are added together multiplied by the number of ECTS credits of each examination (30 cum laude is counted as 31).
Examinations whose grades are expressed by an approval or a pass and 'Theology' examinations are excluded from the count.
The sum is divided by the total weight in ECTS credits of the subjects considered (average in thirtieths).
The average in thirtieths thus obtained is converted into 110ths by multiplying the value obtained by 11 and dividing it by 3.

FINAL TEST MARK 0 to 3 points

PERFORMANCE BONUS

6 points if the average mark is >= 28;
5 points if the average mark is < 28 and >= 26;
4 points if the average mark is < 26 and >= 24;
3 points if the average mark is < 24 and >= 22;
1 point if the average mark is < 22 and >= 21.

THEOLOGIES BONUS

1 point if the average mark is >= 29;

For students enrolled in the first year from the academic year. 2019/ 20:
1.5 point if the average mark is 30 cum laude;
1 point if the average mark is from 30 to 29
 0.5 point if the average of the marks is from 28 to 26;
