Undergraduate Programmes

To graduate, you need to follow a few steps.
Read the steps below and download the Tutorial

If you are planning to graduate, you must:
1.    choose a topic, (make sure it meets all the expected requirements)
2.    pay the graduation fee
3.    submit the application for admission to the final examination, verifying that all deadlines (curricular/timing requirements) are met;
4.    upload your final examination paper on your personal I-Catt page

The topic of your final examination may focus either on teachings included in your study plan or on other subjects, provided that the latter are encompassed within the degree programmes associated with your course of study. The topic you choose must always be agreed upon and approved by your reference professor, who will evaluate and assess whether the subject is consistent with the specific educational objectives of your course of study.

Once you have obtained your professor's approval, you must upload the title of your final paper on your personal I-Catt page (Segreteria online - Final Examination). Be sure to check and respect the deadlines, which can be found in the "Degree Programmes – Graduation Sessions" section on this page.

To submit the topic of your final examination, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Daytime degree programmes: you must have obtained at least 140 ECTS credits (foreign language exams and 'Theology' courses are excluded from this count)
  • Evening degree programmes: you must have obtained at least 120 ECTS credits (foreign language exams and 'Theology' courses are not included in the count

    For further details on the final examination, please refer to the document:

Milan Campus

You must upload your final paper within 15 days of the first date of the proclamation sessions

Rome Campus

You must upload your final paper within 12 days of the first date of the proclamation sessions.

If you are graduating in the Faculty of Economics (Rome Campus), you must submit the Declaration of regularity of fulfilment (Library, EDUCatt) to the Student Services Centre.

In order to avoid either excessive proximity or overlapping between the deadline for the exam session (last call) and the start of the graduation session, undergraduate students will be allowed to complete their degree requirements (i.e., register all pending exams) within 7 calendar days of the start of the graduation session. During this period, all necessary checks on the student's academic record will be carried out.

To this end, the examination calendar will be scheduled to ensure that graduating students will be enabled to sit their pending exams according to the following schedule:

-   Students registered for the summer exam session (June-July): you may sit the first 2 of 3 scheduled exam dates (or the first of two, where applicable).

-   Students registered for the autumn session (September-October): you may sit the first of 2 scheduled dates.

-   Students registered for the special session (December-April): you may sit the first 2 of 3 scheduled exam dates (or the first of two, where applicable).

The final available date in each session may also be used, provided the exam is officially recorded within seven calendar days before the start of the graduation session.

If the course lecturer has informed of their inability to chair the exam at short notice, a substitute professor will be appointed to conduct the exam on the scheduled date, in order to avoid any postponement.

Rome Campus

Graduating students will be informed of the last possible exam date in the message listing the graduation sessions dates.

Undergraduate students who are unable to graduate in the session for which they have applied must notify both their professor/supervisor and the Student Services Centre of their respective Campus.

Notification to the Student Services Centre must be submitted through the iCatt Information Request form by selecting: Lessons/ Examinations and Final Examination/Final Examination.

To apply for a subsequent graduation session, students must submit a new application for admission to the final examination, along with a €16 revenue stamp and a proof of payment of the graduation fee.

Graduating students will receive their summons to the final examination exclusively through their personal iCatt page, approximately 10 days before the scheduled graduation date (under Online Secretariat – Final Examination section).

For students enrolled from academic year 2009/10 onwards:

The final degree grade is calculated based on the following criteria:

BASIC COUNTING

All grades from passed examinations (each multiplied by its corresponding ECTS credit value) are summed.

Grades of “30 cum laude” are counted as 31.
Exams graded as “pass”, “approved”, or Theology exams are excluded from this calculation.

The resulting sum is then divided by the total number of ECTS credits considered.

The average obtained (expressed in thirtieths) is then converted to a scale of 110 using the following formula:

(Average × 11) / 3).

FINAL TEST MARK 0 to 3 points

PERFORMANCE BONUS

Bonus points are awarded according to the student’s average mark (expressed in thirtieths):

6 points if the average mark is >= 28;
5 points if the average mark is < 28 and >= 26;
4 points if the average mark is < 26 and >= 24;
3 points if the average mark is < 24 and >= 22;
1 point if the average mark is < 22 and >= 21.

SPEED BONUS

Additional points are awarded based on the timing of graduation:

3 points if the degree is obtained by December of the third year; 2 points if obtained by March of the third year; 1 point if obtained by December of the first supplementary year of the programme

BONUS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDY EXPERIENCES 1 point: if the international study experience is recognised by the Faculty

THEOLOGIES BONUS

1 point if the average mark is >= 29;
