Sichuan University – West China School of Medicine

HUAXI MedElite Global Summer Programme

The HUAXI MedElite Global Summer Programme, hosted by the West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University, brings together medical students from around the world for academic learning, clinical skills training, and cross-cultural exchange.

The programme features two signature courses:

1. Surgical Frontiers

It introduces the evolution of modern surgical techniques through lectures and hands-on skills training;

2. Exploring Traditional Chinese Medicine

The course provides an academic overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its cultural foundations.

Participants will also take part in the Model International Conference for Medical Students, where they engage in simulated academic discussions and presentations.

Through lectures, practical training, and intercultural interaction, the programme aims to strengthen students’ academic communication skills, clinical thinking, teamwork, and cross-cultural collaboration, helping them develop a broader global perspective in medicine.

This programme is open to students enrolled in the clinical years of the Medicine and Surgery degree programme. It is not open to Chinese citizens.

During the selection process, priority will be given to students enrolled in the 4th and 5th year of the Medicine and Surgery degree programme. Students in the 6th year will be considered only if places remain available.

Students enrolled in the Italian-taught Medicine and Surgery degree programme may also be considered if places remain unfilled.
