Berkeley Summer session

This programme allows you to apply for Summer Session D courses.

NB The list is currently being updated.

You can apply for two courses for a total of 5, 6, 7 or 8 units. You cannot enrol for fewer than 5 units. 

When selecting courses, take account of: 

  • Courses dates and times (attendance is compulsory so these must not overlap) 
  • Check that the “mode of instruction” is “in person”
  • Check whether there are course entry requirements to be met. Remember that you must meet any entry requirements if they are listed.

Certification

Cattolica International Language Test

If you do not hold any of the specified certificates, you can take the Cattolica International internal English test.

Notes

  • Select a test date and book your test when you are applying online. You should select the first date that fits your calendar so that you are sure to take the test before places run out. 
  • The test takes place in online mode. You will receive an email with the Zoom link by the day before the test date.
  • The test can only be taken once. 
  • If you have already taken the Cattolica International internal test for other programmes abroad and obtained a result valid for this programme, you can use that result without needing take the test again. You must have taken the test no earlier than May 2022 and if you use a previous test result you must specify the test date in your online application. 

 
Enrolment on a degree programme delivered in English

If you are on a Cattolica degree programme delivered entirely in English, you can upload enrolment self-certification and use it to apply for this programme. 

  • The self-certification document can be downloaded from your iCatt page: Online Student Office section – Self-certification as substitute for official certification – Enrolment with study plan.
  • A B2 level score will be automatically applied when creating the ranking for the award of scholarships.

You can either stay on campus at UC Berkeley facilities, or you can organise your accommodation independently.

Booking on-campus accommodation: 
When applications have closed and you have received confirmation of admission to courses at UC Berkeley, you can independently book your accommodation from the options available.

Application fee to be paid to UC Berkeley: $ 25 (non-refundable)

Costs depend on the number of units you choose to do. 

  • 5 units: $ 3,593
  • 6 units: $ 4,188
  • 7 units: $ 4,783
  • 8 units: $ 5,378

Calculation of overall cost

  • Fee per unit: $595
  • Registration fee: $550
  • Document management fee $68
  • Example: 6 units X $595 = $3,570 
  • $3,570 + $550 + $68 = $4,188

NB Università Cattolica students do not need to pay the international service fee. 

Programme fee: €300 (non-refundable)

  

The cost of the programme includes:

  • orientation and support from Cattolica International during enrolment on the UC Berkeley course
  • insurance and Student Safety Package
  • support leading up to departure
  • enrolment and attendance on 2 courses for a minimum of 5 units
  • support on return from the programme for procedure for registering examinations taken abroad
  • Transcript of Records – official certificate of attendance and exam grades
  • "Welcome Back: unpack your experience!" session upon return to Italy, held by Cattolica International


Not included in the cost of the programme

  • return flights
  • meals and accommodation 
  • study visa costs if applicable
  • cost of study materials 
  • anything not specified in the preceding list 
     

Cattolica is offering 7 scholarships to the value of € 1,500 each.

Notes on scholarships:

  • The scholarships are assigned on the basis of academic merit and are paid as reimbursement of expenses related to the programme.
  • You do not need to make a separate application for a scholarship: your application is automatically submitted when you apply for the programme. 
  • Current students will be prioritised over recent graduates in determining the assignment of scholarships.
     

Students selected for the programme will have to apply for a student visa.

You can only start your visa application when you have been accepted on the courses. Further information will be provided after applications close.

You must have a valid passport. If you do not have a passport, you must apply for one as soon as possible.
