The Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures offers students on the Master’s Degree Programme in Lingue, Letterature e Culture d’Europa e d’America the opportunity to gain a double degree qualification at the end of their studies, as follows: 

  • Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures – Curriculum: French Literature and Linguistics - Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore
  • Master’s Degree in Littérature Philologie Linguistique - Spécialité Langue Française - Université Sorbonne

The exchange will take place over the entire second year of the Master’s Degree programme. Departures are scheduled for September 2026 for the academic year 2026-2027.
 

The offer is reserved for a maximum of three students enrolled in the Master’s Degree Programme in Lingue, Letterature e Culture d’Europa e d’America  who also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures. By 20 April 2026, interested students must:

  • apply via the relevant call for applications
  • pay the application fee
  • attach a motivational letter in French to their application

Applicants will be called for interview. 

The selection process will be carried out by the academics dealing with the programme (Prof.ssa Sara Cigada and Prof.ssa Marisa Verna) on the basis of the following criteria:

  • 25% undergraduate degree grade
  • 25% number of credits and grade point average of any grades earned in the first year of the Master’s Degree programme
  • 25% motivational letter in French
  • 25% motivational interview during which proficiency in French will be checked (level required: C1)

A provisional merit ranking will be drawn up which will include exams and credits registered in student records by mid-June 2026. Definitive admission to the programme is subject to passing the Strategie comunicative e negoziali della lingua francese exam in the 2026 summer session and 60 credits gained by September 2026.

Students participating in the programme will prepare their Final Thesis during the period of their exchange, under the coordinated supervision of both institutions (one faculty member from each institution). The Final Thesis will be written either in French or Italian, and accompanied by a summary in the language not used; the thesis will be discussed at Università Cattolica in line with standards and evaluation criteria in use for the September 2027 session.
