Graduate Programmes

To graduate, you need to follow a few steps.
Read the steps below and download the Tutorial

Students intending to graduate must:

1. choose a topic, checking curricular/time requirements;
2. complete the Practical Evaluative Traineeship and the related professionalizing completion training activities, if to be retrieved;
3. record the Practical Evaluative Traineeship and the related professionalizing completion training activities. The latter if to be retrieved - see FAQ .
4. pay the expected fee for the Practical Evaluative Traineeship and the admission to the final examination;
5. submit the application for admission to the final examination, verifying the curricular/temporal requirements;
6. conduct the Practical Assessment, which is binding for graduation - see FAQ;
7. deliver the final dissertation and microfiches in the prescribed manner.

The topic of the final examination must be related to a course included in the study plan and the title must be agreed upon with the reference professor.

In order to obtain approval for the topic, it is necessary to contact the professor.

The topic must then be entered on the iCatt personal page (Online registrar > Final examination) by the deadline indicated in the 'Four-year and Graduate Degree Programme Calls' section of this page.

In order to be able to submit your final examination topic, you must comply with:

  • submission deadlines: at least 6 months before the session. Details in the calendar
  • curricular requirements: not expected

Please refer to the Faculty Guide of the Milan and Brescia campuses for further details on the final examination.

In order to apply for admission to the final examination, you must comply with:

  • submission deadline: at least 45 days before the session. Details in the calendar.
  • curricular requirements for the summer session:
    • graduate degree programmes:
      • having no more than 42 ECTS credits in debt for the summer session (the "Theology" course and the final examination are not included in the count).
    • five-year degree programmes:
      • having no more than five years' debt for the summer session ("Theology" courses are not included in the count).
  • curricular requirements for all other sessions:
    • graduate degree programmes:
      • having no more than 32 ECTS credits in debt (the 'Theology' course and the final examination are not included in the count).
    • five-year degree programmes:
      • having no more than four years’ debt ("Theology" courses are not included in the count).

The dedicated function (Online registrar > Final examination > Application for graduation) involves the following steps:

  • filling in and forwarding the application to the professor for approval;
  • approval or refusal by the professor/lecturer;
  • payment of the graduation fee with the corresponding revenue stamp, the Practical Assessment fee through Pago PA and the government fee through postal bulletin - see FAQ;
  • forwarding the application.

Any changes to the title of the final dissertation, approved by the professor, must be made at the time the application is completed. The title contained must therefore be definitive, as no further changes can be accepted.

Procedure in force until the end of the public health emergency related to the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus

The .pdf file of the dissertation must be sent to the professor via the iCatt personal page (Online registrar > Final examination > Submit final dissertation).

Instructions to submit the dissertation: Submission of the dissertation

Undergraduate students who fail to graduate in the call for which they have applied for admission to the final examination must notify both the professor/supervisor and the Student Services Centre of the relevant seat.
Notification to the Student Services Centre should be made by writing via the iCatt Request for information form under Lessons, Exams and Final Examination > Final Examination.

For a subsequent graduation session, a new application for admission to the final examination must be submitted with a €16 stamp duty and a receipt of payment of the Undergraduate Contribution.

In the event that the professor appointed to chair the commission is unable to do it, as communicated close to the date of the exam, a substitute will be appointed to open the exam call on the scheduled date, avoiding postponement of the call.

In order to reduce the critical situations linked to the excessive proximity or overlap of the date of the end of the exam session (last call) with the start date of the Practical Assessment session, the undergraduate must close his or her career (understood as the record of all exams) within 7 calendar days of the start of the  Practical Assessment session, i.e. the time required to carry out the checks on the student's career. To this end, the examination calendar will be scheduled so that undergraduate students can take advantage of the profit exam calls.

The last call of each session may also be used if the examination is registered within 7 calendar days before the start of the graduation session.

Graduating students will receive the convocation exclusively via their iCatt personal page approximately 10 days before the scheduled graduation date (Online registrar > Final Examination section).

The following criteria are applied for the calculation of the final mark:

BASIC COUNTING

All the marks of the profit examinations taken are added together (including any supernumeraries from the Faculty of Psychology, excluding 'Theology' examinations).

For students enrolled from academic year 2020/21 and graduating from the 2021/22 summer session
All marks of the profit examinations are added together multiplied by the number of ECTS credits of each examination.
