Graduate Programmes

Students intending to graduate must:

  1. choose a topic, checking curricular/time requirements
  2. submit the application for admission to the final examination, verifying the curricular/temporal requirements
  3. deliver the final dissertation and microfiches in the prescribed manner

The topic of the final examination must be related to a course included in the study plan and the title must be agreed upon with the reference professor.

In order to obtain approval for the topic, it is necessary to contact the professor.

The topic must then be entered on the iCatt personal page (Online registrar > Final examination) by the deadline indicated in the 'Four-year and Graduate Degree Programme Calls' section of this page.

In order to be able to submit your final examination topic, you must comply with:

  • submission deadline: at least 6 months before the session. Details in the calendar of calls
  • curricular requirements: not expected

Please refer to the Faculty Guide of the Milan and Brescia  campuses for further details on the final examination.

In order to apply for admission to the final examination, you must comply with:

  • submission deadline: at least 45 days before the session. Details in the calendar of calls.
  • curricular requirements for the summer session:
    • Graduate programmes:
      • no more than 30 ECTS credits in debt (the 'Theology' course and the Internship are not included in the count)
      • if regularly (in corso) enrolled in the second year, having more than 30 ECTS credits in debt (the 'Theology' course and the internship are not included in the count).
        In this case: for students at the Milan campus, it is necessary to report to the Student Services Centre within the deadline for submitting the application for admission to the final examination; for students at the Brescia campus, it is necessary to contact the Student Services Centre via the iCatt Request for Information form within the deadline for submitting the application for admission to the final examination.
    • Four-year degree programmes:
      • no more than three years' debt ('Theology' courses are not included in the count)
  • curricular requirements for all other sessions:
    • Graduate programmes:
      • no more than 24 ECTS credits in debt (the 'Theology' course and internship are not included in the count)
    • Four-year degree programmes:
      • no more than two years' debt ('Theology' courses and the internship are not included in the count).

        If the ECTS credits from the internship exceed the number of maximum credits due, you must contact the Student Services Centre of your seat by the deadline for submitting your application for admission to the final examination.

The dedicated function (Online registrar > Final examination > application for graduation) involves the following steps:

  1. completion and forwarding of the application to the professor for approval;
  2. approval or rejection by the professor;
  3. payment of the graduation fee by Pago PA;
  4. submission of the degree application.

Any changes to the title of the final dissertation, approved by the professor, must be made at the time the application is completed. The title contained must therefore be definitive, as no further changes can be accepted.

The .pdf file of the dissertation must be sent to the professor via the iCatt personal page (Online registrar > Final examination > Submit final dissertation).

Instructions for submitting the dissertation: Submission of the dissertation

In the event that the professor appointed to chair the commission is unable to do it, as communicated close to the date of the exam, a substitute will be appointed to open the exam call on the scheduled date, avoiding postponement of the call.

In order to reduce the critical situations linked to the excessive proximity or overlap of the date of the end of the exam session (last call) with the date of the start of the graduation session, it will be possible for undergraduates to close their careers (understood as the recording of all exams) within 7 calendar days of the start of the graduation session, i.e. the time required to carry out the checks on the student's career. To this end, the examination calendar will be scheduled so that undergraduate students can take advantage of the profit exam calls as follows

Students registered in the summer session (June-July): the first 2 out of 3 calls (or the first call out of 2, where applicable).

Students registered in the autumn session (September-October): first call in 2.

Students registered in the special session (December-April): the first 2 out of 3 calls (or the first call out of 2, where applicable).

The last call of each session may also be used if the examination is registered within 7 calendar days before the start of the graduation session.

Undergraduate students who fail to graduate in the call for which they have applied for admission to the final examination must notify both the professor/supervisor and the Student Services Centre of the relevant seat.
Notification to the Student Services Centre should be made by writing via the iCatt Request for information form under Lessons, Exams and Final Examination > Final Examination.

For a subsequent graduation session, a new application for admission to the final examination must be submitted with a €16 stamp duty and a receipt of payment of the Undergraduate Contribution.

Graduating students will receive the convocation exclusively via their iCatt personal page approximately 10 days before the scheduled graduation date (Online registrar > Final Examination section).

Graduate degree programme

The following criteria are applied for the calculation of the final mark:

BASIC COUNTING

All the marks of the profit examinations are added together multiplied by the number of ECTS credits of each examination (30 cum laude is counted as 31; there is no maximum number of cum laude to be considered)
Supernumerary examinations are included in the calculation (if activated or borrowed from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy).
Marks obtained in examinations expressing an approval or a pass, written examinations, if any, and "Theology" examinations are excluded from the count.
The sum is divided by the total weight in ECTS credits of the courses considered (average in thirtieths).
The average in thirtieths thus obtained is converted into 110ths by multiplying the value obtained by 11 and dividing it by 3.
0.1 points are subtracted from the final average in 110ths for each failure in the written tests (if any).

FINAL EXAMINATION MARK 0 to 8 points
