Preparation Courses for IELTS Certification

Prepare for the IELTS Academic test with Cattolica International’s preparation courses: a structured learning pathway designed to help you develop the skills required for all four sections of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) and approach the exam with confidence.

The courses are open to students and recent graduates (within 12 months of graduation) from all University campuses.

An IELTS certificate can add significant value to your academic and professional profile because it:

  • is internationally recognised by universities, institutions and employers and is often taken into consideration in national public recruitment competitions;
  • is frequently an admission requirement for Cattolica International programmes abroad, allowing you to achieve a higher score in the ranking list;
  • provides a comprehensive and standardised assessment of your English language proficiency;
  • strengthens your CV, particularly in an international context.

You can choose from different options according to your needs.

  • Course formats:
    • Semester-long courses (online and on campus)
    • Intensive courses (online only)
       
  • Delivery mode:
    Online courses are delivered via live streaming and are not recorded. On-campus courses take place at the Milan campus but are open to students from all University campuses.
     
  • Class size:
    Maximum of 20 participants.
    Please note: if the minimum number of participants is not reached, Cattolica International reserves the right to offer alternative schedules or cancel the course, providing a full refund of the course fee or suitable alternatives.
     
  • Learning requirements:
    Active participation and completion of individual assignments are essential to achieve the expected learning outcomes.

To enrol in a course, you must demonstrate an English language proficiency level of at least B1.2 at the application stage.

If you do not hold a valid language certificate, your level will be assessed through the assessment test available within the online application.

To enrol in a course, you must complete the online application, pay the course fee and provide evidence of your English language proficiency.

  • If you hold a language certificate
    You must upload it as part of your online application if it was obtained:
    • •    on or after 1 November 2024, for first-semester enrolment;
    • •    on or after 1 May 2025, for second-semester enrolment.
  • If you do not hold a language certificateYou must complete the assessment test available within the online application.
    This step is mandatory for your enrolment to be considered valid and enables instructors to assess your initial language level and verify that it is suitable for attendance on the course.

Please note: students enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery may express their interest by completing this form..

Enrolment in the preparation course does not include registration for the IELTS test, which must be completed independently by each student.

We strongly recommend booking your test place as early as possible, as places are limited. You should also allow sufficient time for the organisation requesting the certificate to receive and assess your results.

In the event of withdrawal or inability to attend, the following conditions apply:

  • Withdrawal before the fourth hour of teaching (equivalent to two lessons for semester-long courses or one lesson for intensive courses): 75% refund of the course fee.
  • Withdrawal after the fourth hour of teaching: no refund.
  • Failure to meet the required entry level: if the result of the assessment test does not allow participation in the course, the course fee will be refunded in full (100%). Applicants are strongly advised to read the Self-Assessment Grid based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) carefully before applying.
  • Course cancellation: if the minimum number of participants is not reached, Cattolica International will refund 100% of the course fee.

The University is committed to ensuring maximum accessibility to its courses. If you have a disability or a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), please contact the Inclusion Services at least 15 days before the date of the initial assessment test.

Important note regarding the IELTS test: you are also responsible for contacting the IELTS test centre you choose in order to check its procedures and arrange any reasonable adjustments that may be required on the day of the test.
