General objectives:
  • analyse the innovative teaching methodologies adopted in the Nursing degree programme;
  • examine the integration of clinical simulation within the four-year Nursing curriculum at TJU;
  • compare clinical tutoring and supervision practices in the Italian and US contexts;
  • identify strategies for implementing best practices within the Italian educational context.

 

Specific objectives:
  • explore innovative teaching strategies, including problem-based learning (PBL) and collaborative learning, with possible participation in debriefings, lectures, seminars and tutoring sessions;
  • analyse student assessment methods, with a focus on rubrics and formative feedback;
  • compare assessment practices across the two education systems;
  • explore the educational technologies used, such as e-learning platforms and course management tools;
  • explore the standardised nursing languages (SNL) used in the four-year Nursing curriculum at TJU;
  • explore the types of simulation used (high-fidelity, virtual reality, hybrid simulation) and participate in simulation sessions with students and in debriefing for meaningful learning (DML) sessions;
  • undertake a final reflection and conclude the programme;
  • discuss the experience and identify best practices to be implemented in the Italian context.

The programme is open to students enrolled in the Nursing Sciences degree programme.

The programme will be delivered in English; therefore, a basic knowledge is recommended.
No language certificate or test is required.

Il programma si svolgerà in lingua inglese; è quindi consigliata una conoscenza di base.
Non è necessario essere in possesso di una certificazione né sostenere un test di lingua.

Students may stay in the Martin Hall university dorm at a subsidised rate.

Accommodation is in single rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, at an approximate cost of $30 per night.

Upon confirmation of participation in the programme, students must indicate whether they wish to stay on campus by emailing: ucsc.international-rm@unicatt.it.

The programme fee includes:
  • orientation and support during the application process;
  • insurance coverage “Student Safety Package”;
  • pre-departure assistance;
  • tutoring during the mobility period abroad led by Prof. Cristofori and Prof. Zaino;
  • final self-assessment session “Welcome Back: unpack your experience!”, organised by Cattolica International.

 

The fee does not include:
  • return flight;
  • meals and accommodation;
  • ESTA authorisation costs ($40) / visa issuance costs;
  • anything not expressly specified.

Università Cattolica offers 10 scholarships of  € 400 each.

 

How scholarships are awarded and how to apply
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on the academic merit*, and will be paid as a reimbursement.
  • No separate application is required: students only need to apply for the programme.

 

* For students holding qualifications obtained outside Italy, if no grade conversion has already been recorded in their academic record at Università Cattolica, a default score of 80/100 for the secondary school diploma and 90/110 for the Bachelor’s degree will be assigned.

Students must hold a valid passport. If not, they are advised to apply for one as soon as possible.

Selected students will be required to apply for an ESTA.

Students holding a nationality other than Italian must check their eligibility to apply. If they are not eligible, they must inform Cattolica International, sending an email to ucsc.international-rm@unicatt.it.

All participants will be covered by Università Cattolica’s “Student Safety Package” insurance policy.
