The Indonesian island of Bali is renowned for its natural beauty, its vibrant culture and its spiritual atmosphere.

Hindu temples can be found all over the island and visitors can attend religious ceremonies. The island is also well-known for its paintings and fabrics, as well as its cuisine.  

Most of the projects take place in the areas of Ubud and Lovina, while the sea turtle conservation project takes place on the small island of Nusa Penida.

Lovina 
Volunteers will stay in a hotel in dormitory-style rooms which accommodate up to six guests, with shared bathroom facilities. The hotel is about 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Lovina. 
Guests must return by 22.30. Wifi is available, but it may be slow. 
Three meals a day are provided during the week, and two meals at the weekend (breakfast and an evening meal). 

 

Ubud 
Accommodation is provided for volunteers in private housing in shared rooms for up to eight people. Bathroom facilities are also shared.
The accommodation is located in various small villages about 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Ubud. Wifi is available in communal areas. 
Volunteers must return to their accommodation by 22.30. The accommodation is protected during the night. 
Three meals a day are provided during the week, and two meals at the weekend (breakfast and an evening meal).  

 

Nusa Penida
Accommodation is provided for volunteers in private housing in shared rooms for up to five people. Bathroom facilities are also shared.
The accommodation is a 5-minute walk from the area where the project is undertaken. 
Three meals a day are provided during the week, and two meals at the weekend (breakfast and an evening meal). 
 

The costs vary depending on the duration of the volunteer project.

  • Application fee: €35 (non-refundable) - required during the program application phase.
  • Deposit fee: €200 - required after the close of applications to confirm the intention to proceed with the enrollment.
  • Programme fee (requested directly from HQ after eligibility confirmation):
    • 3 settimane - Lovina: $ 1.200
      3 settimane - Ubud: $ 1.150
      3 settimane - Nusa Penida: $ 1.550
      4 settimane - Lovina: $ 1.400 
      4 settimane - Ubud: $ 1.350  
      4 settimane - Nusa Penida: $ 1.850

The Construction & Renovation project (both in Ubud and Lovina) has an additional cost of $200.

For destinations in partnership with HQ Volunteering, 30 scholarships of €300 each are available.

Projects

Help with upkeep and renovation for schools and community centers that can’t always afford to pay for the work themselves. 

Assist kindergarten teachers with casual English and other lessons for children aged between 4-6.

Help to tackle Bali’s problem with litter by educating the next generation of students about proper waste disposal, and run clean up campaigns in the community.

Help to bring basic health education to schools, teaching students about hygiene, good health practices and nutrition.

English language lessons in elementary schools.

Based on the island of Nusa Penida, help to conserve the population of endangered sea turtles. Assist with feeding and cleaning.
