Virtual Internships: Applications are open all year round!

Virtual Internship

The Virtual Internship programme offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to undertake an entirely remote international internship with foreign companies and organisations.

The experience allows you to undertake the internship in a sector consistent with your academic path and professional aspirations, thanks to the constant support of The Intern Group, a provider that accompanies participants through all phases of the internship, from the application until their return.

  • Flexibility: the possibility of reconciling the internship with university or work commitments, acquiring practical experience without compromise.
  • Development of digital and communication skills: daily use of digital tools, collaborative platforms and cross-cutting professional software highly sought after in the job market.
  • Autonomy and responsibility: remote work develops organisation, time management and the ability to work independently, soft skills highly valued by employers.
  • No bureaucracy and reduced costs: internships with international companies without visa procedures or additional costs.
  • Personalised Mentoring: individual tutoring and continuous support from The Intern Group, even remotely.

The Virtual Internship programme is open to all students and recent graduates up to 12 months after graduation who are motivated to develop professional skills and enrich their CV.

To participate, a minimum average grade or previous experience is not required. However, it is necessary to demonstrate a good knowledge of the English language, with a minimum B2 level (certification is not compulsory).

  • Complete the online registration through the International Mobility portal, selecting the duration you prefer and uploading the required attachments, namely:
    • Internship Application Form (Compulsory)
    • Curriculum Vitae in English (Compulsory)
    • Cover Letter in English: (Compulsory) indicating sectors of interest and preferred dates.
    • Language Certification (Optional)
  • To finalise your registration, you will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee of €35.

  • Once the application has been submitted, the International Office will check the validity of the documentation uploaded during the application phase and send it to the provider.
  • In the following days, the Admission Team of The Intern Group will contact the student to arrange a 30-minute introductory interview in English to discuss background, motivations, and professional areas of interest.
  • In the event of a positive outcome of the interview, it will be possible to confirm registration by paying a deposit fee.
  • After payment of the deposit fee, the provider will start the search for the most suitable internship, and once identified, interviews with the companies will be scheduled. The day before the interview, each student will receive e-mails with all the details about the company, in order to prepare adequately for the interview. The provider will also forward any supporting documentation needed for the company interview.

If the interview is positive and the placement is confirmed, the balance payment will be requested.

If this is your first international experience, even if undertaken remotely, during your current course of study you will automatically receive 1 extra-curricular CFU upon your return for international activities.

Furthermore, it is possible to recognise this type of experience as a Curricular Internship!

To verify the actual possibility of recognition and the various requirements to be satisfied, you must contact the Internship Tutor of your Faculty. The names, contacts, and office hours of the Internship Tutors are available online. You just need to consult your course of study page and click on the section 'Attività ed Esperienze / Tirocini e Stage' ('Activities and Experiences / Internships and Placements').

Once the provider has confirmed the name of the company and your duties, you can communicate everything to your reference tutor and, after obtaining their approval, you can proceed to activate the internship on the Stage and Placement Portal (S&P), following the activation guide.
