FAQ - PagoPA payment

How can I pay the PagoPA slip? Do I have to pay it immediately online or can I print it out and pay it later?

PagoPA payments can be made in three ways:

1. Print the slip and pay at any payment service provider in the PagoPA circuit (e.g. banks, tobacconists, post offices, etc.).

2. Online payment: using the appropriate link on your Segreteria Online page, you can access the online payment function that will propose all the payment service providers that are members of the PagoPA circuit (possible methods include debiting the current account and paying by credit card: this payment method is possible for amounts up to €1,500.00). It is not possible to pay with credit/debit cards issued by foreign institutions.

3. Via personal home banking or the ScrignoPagoFacile portal: using the PagoPA or CBILL functions. For banks using the CBILL system, the interbank code or SIA code is: BBS4F. The tax code of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is 02133120150.

Warning:

  • many entities have maximum payment limits that have to be checked with the authorised entity you use; SisalPay or Lottomatica points have a limit for cash payment of €999.99 and €1,499.99 if payment is made by credit card;
  • payment in cash is subject to legal limits to be verified with the authorised person to whom the payment is made.

NB: payments made with the Carta Ateneo+ university badge and via the internet banking service linked to your badge (Scrigno) will be exempt from payment fees and have very high maximum payment limits.

Personal home banking is the most practical, especially if the student pays via the Scrigno function in combination with the Carta Ateneo+ university badge.

What is the Payment Advice? How do I find the data to use PagoPA?
The PagoPA Payment Notice contains all the codes that allow you to pay using the PagoPA circuit:

  • the Payment Advice Code (Codice Avviso di Pagamento - IUV)
  • the QR Code
  • the Interbank Code for the CBILL circuit.

What is the Payment Advice Code?
This is the code given in the PagoPA Payment Notice, to be used for PagoPA payments. It consists of 18 digits including the IUV code. When entering the Payment Advice Code to carry out a transaction, the 18 digits must be entered without spaces.

What is the IUV code?
The Unique Payment Identifier (Identificativo Unico di Pagamento - IUV) is the code that uniquely identifies a payment requested by the public administration. Its close relationship with a specific accounting document allows the creditor body to automatically reconcile the claim as soon as the transaction is completed.

Who are Payment Service Providers (PSPs)?
Payment Service Providers (PSPs), such as banks, post offices, payment institutions and any other entity authorised to perform payment services, join the PagoPA system on a voluntary basis, to provide their payment services to citizens and businesses.

What are the requirements for accessing PagoPA and where do I find payments?
You can access the PagoPA payment service via your personal iCatt page Segreteria on-line > Contributi e agevolazioni > Bollettino Contributi.
The online procedure for PagoPA payments is active every day, 24 hours a day.

Can I pay the payment notification if my bank is not among the Payment Service Providers (PSP) active on PagoPA?
No, if your bank is not active on PagoPA, you will unfortunately have to use services/features provided by other PSPs. You can pay at banks, ticket offices, tobacconists, ATMs and participating supermarkets. In this case, you will have to present the PagoPA Payment Notice, which, by means of the QR Code or the Notice Code (18-digit code starting with 3000...), will allow you to complete the payment through the operator in your territory. You can consult the list of active PSPs at the following link.

Can I pay with credit, debit and prepaid cards?
When paying by credit, debit or prepaid card, you can check which payment circuits are available and see the amount of fees charged by the various Payment Service Providers (PSPs). Online payment by credit, debit or prepaid card is allowed even if your bank is not proposed in the list of PSPs with which to make the transaction. The card is released by the issuing bank. What matters is the payment circuit to which the card belongs: Mastercard, VISA, VISA Electron, Maestro, etc… You can then choose one of the PSPs participating in PagoPA that includes your card's circuit among the accepted payment channels. The commission charged by the PSP is clearly indicated in the system, while the contractual conditions you have signed with the credit card issuer apply to the use of the card. Before proceeding with the payment, make sure that your credit card is enabled for online payment and that the available credit limit is compatible with the amount to be paid

What about PayPal?
Certainly, you can select PayPal in the list of Payment Service Providers (PSP) participating in PagoPA.

Can I pay with credit cards issued abroad?
No. You can only use cards issued by Italian banks.

Can I still pay with the MAV slip?
The MAV slip cannot be used for PagoPA payments. Therefore, if your Payment Notification contains the codes for making a PagoPA payment, you will not be able to use the MAV or other forms. In these cases, the only form of payment allowed is the PagoPA circuit.

Are there additional costs for payment fees?
The cost of the transaction is defined by each of the Payment Service Providers (PSPs: entities in charge of managing payment authorisations) and may vary according to the payment method chosen. Before making the payment, you can check the fees charged by the Payment Service Provider.

Do I have to send the receipt to the secretariat as proof of payment?
No, PagoPA transfers the information to the University computer system, which updates the student's personal area within an hour.

I made an attempt to log in to see how the system worked, but now I can no longer see the payment buttons. What should I do?
The system does not allow a second attempt within the 10-15 minutes following each access. After this period of time the buttons to proceed to payment will be available again.

What is the Telematic Payment Receipt (Ricevuta Telematica - RT)?
The RT is a receipt document that certifies the transaction and has, for the person making it, the value of a discharge to the beneficiary of the sum paid. It is sent by email after the Payment Service Provider (PSP) verifies and confirms the successful completion of the transaction.
It is usually sent within 24 hours after the payment has been completed.
Always keep the RT as proof of payment.

After how long will I receive the Telematic Receipt (RT) by email?
The RT is sent by email from the Payment Service Provider (PSP) after verification and confirmation of the successful completion of the transaction.
It is usually sent within 24 hours after the payment has been completed. However, the timing depends on the activities carried out by the PSP.
Always keep the RT as proof of payment.

The payment operation was completed successfully but I did not receive the Telematic Receipt (RT) in my email box. Why? What should I do?
If you have made a payment on pagoPA and the transaction was successful but you have not received the confirmation email, please carry out the following checks:
1. check that your mailbox is not full

2. try to see if your mail server has moved the message to the junk mail folder

3. remember that the message can be sent up to 24 hours after the payment has been completed.

The payment fails or I get the message "received FAULT from Payment Node". What is the reason for this?
Check the conditions indicated by the Payment Service Provider (PSP) you have chosen to make the payment, the amount you have to pay is probably higher than the amount allowed with the payment method you have chosen.

Can I indicate my certified e-mail address (PEC) in payment transactions?
It is not possible to indicate certified electronic mail (PEC) addresses because the mail system of the payment portal does not generate PEC-type e-mails and is therefore unable to send messages to these mailboxes.
