You can choose between the 4-week session (HISS) and the 5-week session (HYLION)

 

HISS - Hanyang International Summer School

The programme offers more than 70 courses taught in English across a wide range of disciplines, complemented by a rich calendar of cultural activities, including K-pop, Taekwondo, visits to palaces and museums, excursions, and outdoor activities.

Participants will have access to the academic offer of the Hanyang University International Summer School.
As this is an international summer school, all courses are taught in English; therefore, the programme is open to students from all Faculties.

Course Selection Guide:

Students may choose from 1 to 3 courses, for a maximum of 9 credits:

  • Academic Course: 3 credits with 45 contact hours
  • Elective Course: 2 credits with 30 contact hours

Students are advised to pay close attention to class schedules and any prerequisites: meeting the prerequisites is mandatory if required by the selected course(s).


Club Activities in Seoul
Weeks 1–3 (30 June – 16 July 2026)

During the first three weeks, students may take part in the Hanyang Global Lions (HGL), a network of approximately 20 clubs and more than 80 activities organized directly by students.

Activities are flexible and customizable and range from traditional Korean culture to new trends, indoor and outdoor sports, travel experiences in Korea, K-Beauty, and digital content creation. Activities take place almost every day, after classes and on weekends.

All activities are included in the programme fee, at no additional cost, and are designed to foster socialization, integration, and campus life.

 

Activities in Jeju
Week 4 (19 - 25 July 2026)

In the final week of HISS 2026, all participants will take part in a joint programme with Jeju National University.

After three weeks in Seoul, students will move to Jeju Island, a destination of outstanding natural and cultural value. The programme includes special lectures and experiential activities, all included in the programme fee at no additional cost.

 

HYLION - Hanyang Learning, Innovation, and Outreach Network

HYLION is the new extension of the HISS programme. This year, the programme includes four weeks in South Korea followed by one week in Tokyo.

To maximize the learning experience, Hanyang recommends that students take at least one course in Korean Studies or East Asian Studies during HISS.

During HISS, students may take up to 3 courses and earn up to 9 credits.

Within the HYLION Programme

  • Three special lectures are scheduled during the period in Japan
  • The lectures will be delivered by faculty members from Waseda University and will focus on topics such as culture, politics, and business
     

Upon completion of the programme, students will receive:

 

  • a digital badge certifying completion of the HYLION programme
  • the official Hanyang University transcript for courses taken during HISS
  • a certificate of completion issued by Waseda University

 

 

Language certification

The following certifications, obtained from May 2024 onwards, are accepted:

  • B2 First minimum 160
  • TOEFL Ibt, minimum 65
  • IELTS, minimum 5.5
  • Duolingo English Test (DET), minimum 100


 

Cattolica International Internal Test

If you do not hold one of the accepted certifications, you may take the English language test organised by Cattolica International.

  • During the online application process, you may select the date on which to sit the test. It is strongly recommended that you choose the earliest available date to avoid the risk of no places being available.
  • The test takes place in online mode, and you can book it directly during the application process. You will receive an email with the Zoom link by the day before the test date.
    The test can only be taken once. 
  • If you have already taken the Cattolica International internal test for other study abroad programmes (from May 2024 onwards) and achieved a sufficient result, you may choose not to take it again and keep the previous result valid. In this case, you must indicate in the online application the date on which the test was taken.

 

Cattolica Degree Programme Taught Entirely in English

If you are enrolled in a Cattolica degree programme taught entirely in English, you may apply to this programme by uploading a self-certification of enrolement in the degree programme.

  • The self-certification document can be downloaded from your iCatt page: Online register - Self-certification - Iscrizione con piano di studi. Note: The document must be completed and signed.
  • For the purposes of the ranking used for the allocation of scholarships, a B2.2 level score will be automatically assigned.

HISS

Students may choose to stay on campus, making use of the facilities provided by Hanyang University, or arrange their accommodation independently.

Once the application process is closed and admission to courses at Hanyang University has been confirmed, each student will receive instructions on how to book accommodation.

HISS

The cost of the programme includes:

  • Orientation and support during the enrolment process at Hanyang University
  • Insurance and Student Safety Package
  • Support before departure 
  • One-way flight from Seoul to Jeju
  • Accommodation in Jeju 
  • Socio-cultural activities in Seoul and Jeju
  • Participation in club activities in Seoul is optional; costs can not be refunded even if you do not take part in the activity
  • Participation in the activities in Jeju is mandatory.
  • Support on return from the programme by Cattolica International, regarding the procedure for registering examinations taken abroad
  • "Welcome Back: unpack your experience!" session by Cattolica International on return from the programme

 

Not included in the cost of the programme:

  • Round-trip flight to/from South Korea
  • Return flight from Jeju
  • Meals and accommodation in Seoul
  • Visa issuance fees
  • Costs related to academic materials
  • Any items not expressly specified

The cost of the programme includes:

Università Cattolica offers 10 scholarships of € 800 each.

Please note that:

  • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit* and are provided in the form of a reimbursement.
  • To be considered, it is sufficient to enrol in the programme; no separate application is required.
  • During the allocation process, priority will be given to current students, followed by recent graduates.

 
* For students holding qualifications awarded outside Italy, if an official grade conversion has not already been recorded in their academic career at Università Cattolica, the following scores will be automatically assigned:

  • 80/100 for the upper secondary school leaving certificate;
  • 90/110 for the bachelor’s degree.

No alternative or additional methods of recognition of the grades obtained will be accepted.

After admission, selected students must apply for the K-ETA visa. Detailed information will be provided after the application process closes.
