Short programmes

This three-week programme centres on three main thematic areas:

• Integrated Marketing Communication (25 hours)
• Public Relations and Events Management (25 hours)
• Professional Presentation Skills (25 hours).

Attendance at all three courses is compulsory.

Participants will study: strategies and techniques for customer engagement; the key role played in Public Relations by events; and the importance of being able to speak persuasively and convincingly, studied through the analysis of public speaking techniques.

The specialised programme is directed towards students of the following faculties, although students from other faculties may also apply:

• Economics and Interfaculty
• Interfaculty Arts/Economics/Political and Social Sciences
• Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures
• Political and Social Sciences - recommended for curriculum in Communication Sciences or Public Communication
• Psychology - recommended for Organisation and Marketing curriculum

In addition to academic activities, two optional weekend trips are also included.

Cattolica has already approved courses for students belonging to the faculties listed above. Nevertheless, participating students are still required to follow their individual faculty procedure to apply for credits to be recognised.   

The following past editions' exam credit approvals are published as an example. Those for 2025 will be confirmed shortly.
 

Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures

Bachelor’s Degree 

• Corporate Communication Economics and Techniques (8 credits) or 4 credits for extra elective academic activities
• For Languages for Business and for Linguistic Sciences for International Relations: mid-term Oral English 3 exam + English Language 3 exam (Language and communication for professions) (9 credits)
• For other tracks: mid-term Oral English 3 exam + 4 credits for extra elective academic activities

Master’s Degree 

• International Communication (8 credits) or 4 credits for academic activities

Faculty of Economics

Bachelor’s Degree 

• Corporate Communication Economics and Techniques 

Master’s Degree 

• Business Communication

Faculty of Arts and Philosophy

LIMED (Media Language) e CIMO (Communication for Business, Media and Complex Organisations)

• Recognition of one Cattolica exam selected from elective exams worth either 6 or 8 credits 

Faculty of Psychology

• Recognition of a Cattolica exam selected from elective exams worth 8 credits 

Certification
Only the following certificates obtained from May 2023 onwards are accepted:

• B2 First: minimum 160
• TOEFL iBT: minimum 65
• IELTS: minimum 5.5
• Duolingo English Test (DET): minimum 100

If you do not hold any of the certificates listed above, you can take the Cattolica International internal English test.

• Select a test date and book your test when you are applying online. You should select the first date that fits your calendar so that you are sure to take the test before places run out. 
• The test takes place in online mode, and you can book it directly during the application process. You will receive an email with the Zoom link by the day before the test date.
• The test can only be taken once. 
• If you have already taken the Cattolica International internal test for other programmes abroad and obtained a result valid for this programme, you can use that result without needing take the test again. You must have taken the test no earlier than May 2023 and if you use a previous test result you must specify the test date in your online application. 

If you are on a Cattolica degree programme delivered entirely in English, you can upload enrolment self-certification and use it to apply for this programme. 

• The self-certification document can be downloaded from your iCatt page: Online register - Self-certification - Iscrizione con piano di studi.
• In terms of the ranking for scholarship allocation, a B2.2 level score will automatically be assigned.

Accommodation is provided on campus at the 610 Beacon Street (university dorm). 

NOTE: The cost for the 2025 edition will be available soon.
As an example, we provide the cost for the 2024 edition. Please note that the cost for the 2025 edition may be subject to change.

The cost of the programme is € 5.690.

This includes:

• orientation and help when enrolling on courses at Boston University
• assistance before departure
• insurance cover and Student Safety Package
• assistance on return with procedures for registering results of examinations taken abroad
• enrolment on three courses and attendance 
• official certificate of attendance, with examination results
• course material
• accommodation in double room
• full board (20 meals per week)
• welcome reception and farewell dinner
• site visits
• "Welcome Back: unpack your experience!" session upon return to Italy, held by Cattolica International
   

The following are not covered by the cost of the programme:

• return flights
• cost of ESTA authorisation ($21) / visa costs
• 2 optional excursions to New York City and/or Martha’s Vineyard 
• any items not listed specifically above

Excursions
Two optional trips are planned for the weekends. You will be advised of the cost of the excursions when applications have closed and it is clear how many participants there are. The trips will be as follows:

• a day visit to Martha’s Vineyard
• a weekend in New York City
   

Cattolica offers 18 scholarships, each worth €1,500.

• Please note that the scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and disbursed as a reimbursement.
• To apply, simply enroll in the program; no specific application is required.
• During the scholarship allocation process, priority will be given to students, followed by recent graduates.

Students selected for the programme must apply for ESTA authorisation (USA visa).

• If you do not have Italian nationality, you must check whether you can apply for ESTA authorisation. If ESTA authorisation isn’t a valid option for you, it is your responsibility to inform Cattolica International, who will check with Boston University what type of visa you will need to apply for.
• You can only proceed with your ESTA application (or application for another type of visa) after you have been accepted on the courses. Further information will be provided after applications close.

You must have a valid passport. If you do not have a passport, you must apply for one as soon as possible.
