Volunteers on the Turtle Conservation project will spend the first week in Kandy (cultural immersion week) and then move to Ambalangoda.

Most projects take place in Kandy, a historic city located in the heart of Sri Lanka, surrounded by green hills and picturesque landscapes. It is one of the country's major tourist and cultural destinations, thanks to its significant cultural and historical heritage, marked by the presence of important temples and the Esala Perahera festival, one of the largest Buddhist festivals in Asia. During this festival, traditional processions and dances take place.

The project Turtle Conservation takes place in Ambalangoda, a coastal fishing town located about 4.5 hours southwest of Kandy by car. It offers a slower pace of life with access to beautiful beaches.

Volunteers in Kandy are accommodated in a volunteer house. Bedrooms have bunk beds and you can expect to share a room with four to nine other volunteers.

The volunteer house has a safe member staying in the house at night and there is an 8:00pm curfew on weeknights and 12:00am on weekends at the volunteer accommodation.

Volunteers on the Turtle Conservation project in Ambalangoda are accommodated in a large volunteer house with shared bedrooms by gender. It’s a five-minute walk to the local beach and the volunteering placement.

WiFi is not available in the volunteer accommodation.

Included are 3 meals per day on weekdays and 2 meals per day during the weekends.

The costs vary depending on the duration of the volunteer project.
