Bali is an island located in Indonesia, famous for its natural beauty, vibrant culture and spirituality. The island is in fact dotted with Hindu temples, where it is easy to attend religious ceremonies, it is also famous for its paintings and fabrics, as well as for its cuisine.

Most of the projects are located in the Lovina and Ubud areas.

Lovina is a charming coastal town located on the northern coast of Bali, Indonesia. It offers a serene escape from the bustling crowds of southern Bali, showcasing black sand beaches, serene waters, dolphin-watching, and breathtaking sunsets.

The 14 villages that make up the historical town of Ubud have streets lined with statues and ornate temples that ooze old-world charm. Ubud is also known for its artistic flair, with countless art galleries, artists’ workshops, craft shops and markets to explore.

The Turtle Conservation project is located on the small island of Nusa Penida, which is a 45-minute ferry ride from Ubud. 

Lovina 

Volunteers will be staying in a hotel with dormitory-style rooms, in shared rooms with up to 5 other volunteers. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the center of Lovina. WiFi is available, but may be slow.

The accommodations are supervised during the night and it is required to return by 22:30. 

Volunteers are provided 3 meals a day during the week and 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) on the weekend.

 

Ubud 

Volunteers will stay in a volunteer house, in shared rooms with up to 8 other volunteers. The accommodations are located about 15 minutes by car from the center of Ubud, in small villages. Wifi is available in common areas. 

The accommodations are supervised during the night and it is required to return by 22:30.

Volunteers are provided 3 meals a day during the week and 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) during the weekend. 

 

Nusa Penida

Volunteers will stay in a volunteer house, in shared rooms with up to 5 other volunteers. The accommodation is located just 5 minutes walk from the volunteer placement.

Volunteers are provided 3 meals a day during the week and 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) during the weekend. 

 

The costs vary depending on the duration of the volunteer project.

  • Application fee: €35 (non-refundable) - required during the program application phase.
  • Deposit fee: €200 - required after the close of applications to confirm the intention to proceed with the enrollment.

For destinations in partnership with HQ Volunteering, 20 scholarships of €300 each are available.

Projects

Help to complete construction and renovation projects on community buildings and schools. Assist in hands-on tasks that require a good level of fitness and dedicated work ethic.

This program provides you with the chance to impart your sports expertise to eager children in Lovina during the afternoons, emphasizing the importance of sports for both physical and mental well-being, while immersing yourself in a community of enthusiastic learners.

Help to tackle Bali’s problem with litter by educating the next generation of students about proper waste disposal, and run clean up campaigns in the community.

Help to bring basic health education to schools, teaching students about hygiene, good health practices and nutrition. There are also opportunities for qualified volunteers to run campaigns or clinics in the community.

Provide a fluent English-speaking perspective in language lessons in kindergarten and elementary schools, either taking classes on your own or with another volunteer.

Project aimed at protecting sea turtles. Activities include cleaning, care, feeding turtles. The project takes place on the island of Nusa Penida.
