Application and selection through the Erasmus+ Internship portal

Target students

If you are a bachelor’s degree student, a master’s degree student, a specialising master’s student or a recent graduate (i.e. activating your internship within 12 months of graduation) and you have been selected for an internship abroad that you found independently through the official Erasmus+ Traineeship portal, you must activate your internship via the STeP portal.

It is each candidate's responsibility to check the following:

  • application deadline for the internship;
  • internship dates:
  • academic and language requirements.

What to do if you are selected

The procedure for recognising your internship as curricular is optional and does not include recent graduates.

When you have been selected for an internship abroad, you can check whether it can be recognised as curricular for study plans that include internships. You will need to refer to the Internship Regulations for your degree programme and contact the internship tutor for your faculty.

All faculties have internship tutors for students to contact for any didactic or organisational aspects of a curricular internship. Names and office hours are available on the webpage for internship activities for your degree programme. (Course Details / Internships and Work Placement).

The procedure for attributing credits and the number of credits to be attributed vary depending on the faculty and degree programme.

NB If this is your first experience abroad with Cattolica International during your current study programme, one extra credit point for international activity will automatically be added to your student records regardless of whether credits have been recognised for your internship.

You must check whether the company or organisation abroad where the internship will take place is registered on the STeP portal or not before you can activate your internship on the portal after selection.

You can check whether the company is registered by emailing us at wea@unicatt.it. If it hasn’t been registered, the company itself will have to register in line with the instructions in the Guide to Company Registration (see Useful material below).

Be aware that it is the company itself that must complete their registration.

Once the request for registration has been received, our office will check the information, approve the registration, and automatically send a confirmatory email directly to the organisation.

When the company abroad has been properly registered on the STeP portal and when you have checked whether the internship can be recognised as curricular, you must then activate the internship through the STeP portal.

This procedure is compulsory and must be completed no later than five days prior to commencement of the internship.

More details and information on this can be found in the Activation Instructions (see Useful materials below).

Scholarships

Scholarships can be applied for during the activation step of an internship abroad.

Refer to the Regulations (see useful materials below) for further details and information regarding:

  • Requirements
  • Amounts

NB All candidates must email wea@unicatt.it to show proof that they have been selected for their internship via an announcement published on the official Erasmus+ Internship portal. Candidates who have found their internships through other channels are not eligible to apply for scholarships.

When Cattolica International has verified that the requirements for the scholarship are met, further details regarding the payment of the scholarship will be provided.

Insurance and Safety App

An insurance policy valid abroad is activated for all students and recent graduates participating in international mobility programmes. The policy includes health insurance, third party liability insurance (for damage caused to third parties or to third party property) and accidents in and outside the workplace.

The insurance coverage is active from 7 days before the official start date of the internship and up to 7 days after the official end date of the internship. For longer stays abroad, students are required to take out a supplementary policy.
All students and recent graduates on an internship abroad are required to download and activate the “Student Safety Check” app which is specifically designed for handling emergency situations.

Further information is available on the STeP Portal and on the "Student Safety Package" page.
