Elective Observership Porgramme – Thomas Jefferson University

The Elective observership programme at Thomas Jefferson University offers students enrolled in the Medicine and Surgery degree programme the opportunity to apply for a 1-month curricular internship at Sidney Kimmel Medical College.

 This programme is designed for students in the clinical years of the Medicine and Surgery degree programme.

Step 1: Complete your online application available via your personal iCatt page under Services and opportunities > International mobility > Mobility calls > then in the drop-down menu select Accordi bilaterali> Electives Observership Thomas Jefferson University

Complete your application by uploading the required documents: your CV and a motivation letter specifying at least three preferred clinical departments.

 

Step 2: Pay the € 2.250 programme fee (within the application deadline)

Please note that the programme fee must be paid as a guarantee for the placement search process. This fee ensures that Thomas Jefferson University can proceed with securing a suitable clinical placement for you.

In the event that a placement cannot be confirmed, the programme fee will be fully refunded.

After the registration deadline, Cattolica International will review your application and forward the documents you uploaded (CV and motivation letter) to Thomas Jefferson University - SKMC to initiate the placement process.

 Participation in the programme involves the following costs:

  • €2.250 programme fee which includes the clinical placement and Student Safety Package
  • NOT INCLUDED in the €2.250 programme fee: Travel expenses, visa, accommodation, and meals

Scholarships of €550 per month are available and will be reimbursed as expenses. Your programme application is also valid as application for a scholarship: you do not need to make a separate application.

Students can apply for recognition of the programme as Clinical Research electives. The academic recognition form must be completed and submitted to the International Office at the programme's conclusion.

Included in the programme is the activation of the Student Safety Package, which includes: 

  • Insurance cover valid for the entire length of the programme abroad.
  • Activation of the Student Safety app, which helps manage emergencies
