Exams

Students register their exams via their iCatt account (“Exam registration” under “Online registrar”/ or “Exam registration” under “Courses”). To be allowed to register for an exam, the course must be listed in their study plan, and when attendance is required, their presence must be confirmed in each class.

Students must verify that the course in question is listed in their online student grade book (libretto on-line) and that registration for the exam call is open.

Any missed payments, fees or administrative irregularities (such as the late submission of income forms) will prevent students from registering for course exams.

Should there be any problems with the registration process, students must contact Student Services at their respective campus as soon as possible, or send a message using their iCatt account.

Milan, Brescia and Piacenza-Cremona Campuses

Students must register for an exam at least 4 calendar days prior to the scheduled exam date via their iCatt account (“Exam registration” under “Courses”).

For example, if the exam is scheduled for 8 February, registrations will be accepted until 4 February included.

The system will not allow exam registrations after the deadline.

Rome Campus

Students must register for an exam at least 7 calendar days prior to the scheduled exam date via their iCatt account (“Exam registration” under “Courses”).

For example, if the exam is scheduled for 8 February, registrations will be accepted until 1 February included. The system will not allow exam registrations after the deadline

Students can cancel their registration for an exam up until the day before the exam date via their iCatt account (“Cancel registration” under “Courses”).

Exam call dates are published on the dedicated page on each campus website:

Milan | Brescia | Piacenza - Cremona

To be granted access to an exam, students must present their student ID card and a valid ID document.

Students may not register for more than one exam date for the same exam within the same examination call or session.

Exam candidates are sorted alphabetically to determine the order in which they are to sit the exam, that is in the case of an oral examination. These lists are published on the applicable platforms and noticeboards.

Milan, Brescia and Piacenza-Cremona Campuses

Exam results are recorded electronically.

For oral exams, results are recorded at the end of the exam. To formally register the result, that is if the grade is accepted, students will need to swipe their student ID card in the card reader located in the classroom where the exam takes place.

The results of written exams are reported via iCatt (“Exam results and update of records” under “Home page”). To formally register the result, students must click on “Accept” (Accetta). By clicking on "Reject” students can choose not to register the grade and may therefore re-take the exam.

If students fail to accept or reject their grade as the iCatt process calls for, the grade, whether accepted or not, will be automatically recorded five days after publication (“silence/absence”). After this date, students will no longer be able to reject the grade.

Here is an example:

  • Results are published on 15 February
  • Acceptance or rejection of the grade is required by 20 February
  • If the grade is not registered by the above deadline (“silence/absence”), the grade will be automatically confirmed and recorded on 21 February

The exam results will then be published on iCatt (“Registered grades” under “Online registrar”).

Any missed payments, fees or administrative irregularities (such as the late submission of income forms) will prevent students from registering for course exams.

Rome Campus

Exam results are registered in the presence of the student.

For oral exams, results are recorded immediately at the end of the exam.

For written exams, students must register for a subsequent exam call date for the course in question. They must be present on this exam date for the purpose of formally receiving and recording the grade.

The exam results will then be published on iCatt (“Registered grades” under “Online registrar”).

Any missed payments, fees or administrative irregularities (such as the late submission of income forms) will prevent students from registering for course exams.

If an error is found in the recording of a grade, students must contact the professor/instructor so that they can verify and amend the grade if applicable.

If the faculty member heading the examination committee is unable to take part in the exam itself  and communicates his/her absence in due time, a substitute will be appointed to ensure that the exam call is given on the scheduled date, thus avoiding the postponement of the exam to a later date.

To reduce to a minimum possible complications due to regular exam calls that are too close to or that overlap with the graduation session, those students who are about to graduate will be given 7 days after the beginning of the graduation session to conclude their studies (understood as the recording of all exams and their results). This should be sufficient time to ensure that the students complete all their degree requisites to be admitted to the graduation session. For this purpose, the exam calendar will be set as such as to allow that graduating students take their outstanding exams as follows:

  • Students registered for the summer graduation session (June-July) will be able to take exams in the first 2 exam call dates out of 3 (or the first date out of 2, when applicable);
  • Students registered for the autumn session (September-October) will be able to register for the first exam date out of 2;
  • Students registered for the extraordinary session (December-April will be able to register for exams given in the 2 dates out of 3 (or the first date out of 2, when applicable).

The last exam date of every session will also be available should the exam result be recorded within 7 calendar days after the beginning of the graduation session.
